If you are looking for unique Easter crafts for kids or just a fun bunny paper craft, this jumping jack bunny craft is just the thing! It’s really simple to make, and only requires a few common materials that you probably already have at home. I made this jumping jack bunny craft with my three year-old and he had a lot of fun doing it (and needed a lot of help, of course). I’d say this bunny paper craft is appropriate for kids preschool aged through late elementary school aged. Younger kids will need some help. I’d say kids around 7 and older will be able to do it mostly and completely independently. In this post, I will give you the free pattern and instructions for the jumping jack bunny craft. Let’s get started!
Materials You Will Need for the Jumping Jack Bunny Craft
You only need a handful of materials for this cute bunny craft for kids!
- Card stock – I recommend choosing three colors – one for the body, arms, and legs, one for the belly and muzzle, and one for the inner ears. We used a natural tan color for the body and limbs, cream for the belly and muzzle, and light pink for the inner ears and nose.
- Scissors
- Brads – you will need 4.
- Glue – a glue stick works best, but you can also use white glue. Alternatively, you can use double stick tape.
- A small hole punch – this is optional, but it is helpful for punching the holes for the brads. You can use a needle, a skewer, or a craft knife instead. If you do use the hole punch, it must be smaller than the standard size, otherwise the holes will be too big.
- A black marker or colored pencil to make the eyes and any other facial details you would like to add.
- A piece of string about 12 inches long.

Instructions for the Jumping Jack Bunny Craft
- Print out the Jumping Jack Bunny Craft printable (the free PDF is below). You can print the bunny craft directly onto the card stock that you would like to use, or print it onto printer paper to use as a pattern on the card stock of your choice.
- Cut out the pieces of the jumping jack bunny craft.
- Glue the inner ears, muzzle, nose, and belly to the bunny’s body.

- Punch holes in the arms, legs, and body in the places marked on the pattern. You can use a small hole punch (smaller than standard size), a sewing needle, a skewer, or a craft knife for this.

- Widen the bottom holes in the arms and legs and the holes in the body. You can do this by pushing a pencil into the hole and twisting it. Widening the hole makes it so that the limbs are nice and loose when they are connected, which is important for your jumping jack bunny craft to work properly.

- Put the brads into the holes on the body.
- Put the arms and legs onto the brads from the back side of the body.
- Open the brads over a pair of scissors so that they stay nice and loose.

- Check that the bunny’s arms and legs swing freely. They should swing back and forth easily if you let them dangle and swing the bunny craft from side to side a little bit. If they do not swing freely, twist the brads and widen the holes some more and adjust them if they are too tight.

- Now it’s time for the strings! Cut a piece of string about 12 inches long.
- Loop the string through the top holes of the bunny’s arms, making sure to hold the arms down while you are doing so. I’m going to emphasize the HOLD THE ARMS DOWN instruction because your jumping jack bunny craft will not work properly if you do not do this.

- Tie the string between the arms, as shown in the photo below.

- Now tie a knot in the string just above the top of the bunny’s legs.
- Thread the string through the holes in the tops of the legs and tie a loop, just as you did for the arms, making sure to HOLD DOWN THE LEGS as you do this. If you don’t your bunny craft will not jump properly.

- Tie a knot in the part of the string that is hanging down to keep the two strands together.
- Now your jumping jack bunny craft is ready to jump!

- All that is left to do is add a face. Use your marker or colored pencils to add some eyes, and a mouth and whiskers if you would like. We kept our bunny paper craft simple and just added eyes.

Isn’t it darling! Now your child can play with his jumping jack bunny craft! Just pull down gently on the string to make the legs and arms go up and down.
How fun is that?!
I hope you have a fun time making this bunny paper craft with your child! Thank you for visiting and I hope you come again soon!
