Adorable and Easy Hopping Bunny Craft for Kids

Hopping Bunny Craft for Kids

Hello! Thanks for visiting today! I’m so excited to show you this easy Easter bunny craft. It is the perfect easy craft for kids that you can do at home or in your classroom this spring season. My kids and I had a blast making these little bunnies, but the best thing was playing with them afterward! It’s super fun to make the little bunny hop! This little hopping Easter bunny craft for kids is a super unique and fun craft that kids of all ages will love. These cute bunny crafts are probably most suitable for elementary kids, who will be able to complete all the steps with little to no help. My three year-old also made one and he had so much fun, so preschool kids can enjoy this easy bunny craft as well, they will just need a little more help. And it’s a fun way to have some quality time with your little one and help them practice their fine motor skills at the same time! These cute bunnies are an easy craft to do at an Easter party, since they don’t require a lot of preparation, they are a very low-mess craft, and they are pretty quick to make. Read on for the printable templates and the instructions on how to make this simple Easter craft!

Materials for the Hopping Bunny Craft for Kids

You only need a handful of common supplies to make your hopping bunny craft for kids!

  • White paper or plastic cups – the “bathroom size” is the size you want to aim for. We found ours at Walmart. Paper cups are best if you can find them. You will need two cups for each hopping bunny craft that you make.
  • White cardstock – this is for the bunny’s ears and feet
  • Pink paper – this is for the inner ear
  • Rubber bands – you will need one rubber band for each of the hopping bunnies
  • Scissors
  • Glue – you can use glue dots, craft glue, hot glue, or double sided tape. You will want a glue stick or white glue for sticking the inner ears to the ears. For attaching the bunny parts to the cup, I recommend glue dots for younger kids and hot glue for older kids that can handle it safely.
  • Permanent markers – you will need at least one permanent marker for drawing on the eyes.
  • Hopping Bunny Template (you can find the free printable PDF file below)

The following craft supplies are optional, but they are a great way to add some fun touches to your bunny’s face!

  • Googly eyes – we didn’t use them, but kids love googly eyes, and they would look super fun when the bunny hops!
  • Pink pom pom (or whatever color you prefer) – this is for the bunny’s nose.
  • White pom pom – the perfect way to add a little bunny tail!

Instructions for the Hopping Bunny Craft

This fun Easter bunny craft is such a simple craft to make! Here are the steps for making your own hopping bunny craft for kids:

  • Print out the Hopping Bunny Craft for Kids template (you can find the free PDF below). I recommend printing it onto white card stock and tracing the inner ear piece onto pink paper. You can use construction paper or whatever kind you would like. You will need two of the inner ear piece.
  • Cut out all the bunny pieces and set them aside.

  • Poke two holes directly opposite each other near the top edge of one of your cups. I used a small hole punch for this (much smaller than a standard size hole punch), but you can use a craft knife or needle instead.
  • Cut a rubber band in half
  • Poke one end of the rubber band into one of the holes and tie a knot in the rubber band on the outside of the cup.
  • Do the same on the other side of the cup with the other end of the rubber band. Before you tie the knot, pull the rubber band until it is not lax, but do not pull it so tight that the rubber band is stretching at all.

Now you can start adding the bunny parts!

  • First, glue the inner ear pieces to the middle of the ears.
  • Now, bend the flat ends of the ears to make a little tab. Glue the ears by the tab to the top of the cup.
  • Bend the flat end of the feet to make a tab. Glue the tab the inside of the rim of the cup.
  • Now it’s time to make the bunny face! You can make a super simple bunny face by drawing two black dots on the front of the cup for the eyes and a triangle or x for the nose. Or, you can glue a pink pom pom on the front of the cup for the bunny nose and add some stick-on googly eyes for a really fun silly bunny face!

  • You can also glue a pom pom on the back for a tail for an extra fun touch.

Now it’s time for the really fun part! Testing out your hopping bunny craft! Press your finished bunny down on top of the other cup, and then let go and watch your bunny hop! This works best if you hold the bunny by the rim of the cup.
