This activity is so simple and yet so fun! Especially for the child who loves to move!
All you need to do this activity is the Ice Dance Soft C printable, and some music!
Instructions:
- Print out the Ice Dance Soft C words.
- (Optional) Laminate for durability.
- Teach your child the soft C sound. Soft C makes an S sound (as in the words ice and dance) when it is there is an e, i, or y right after it in the word. Write a few soft C words with a moveable alphabet, or on a white board or piece of paper to practice. The words ice, cent, and fancy are good ones to start with.
- Arrange the Ice Dance words on the floor however you would like.
- Tell your child that when you play music, he will dance. As soon as the music stops, he will turn to “ice” and freeze on whatever word he is standing on. When he reads the word, he will unfreeze and you will start the music again.
- Play Ice Dance until your child loses interest or until he reads all the words.

Have fun!
