Angel Craft Supplies
To make your adorable angel crafts, you will need just a few craft essentials:
- Large peg doll – I recommend using peg dolls that are at least 3.5 inches tall. You can find these on Amazon if you can’t find them at your local craft store.
- Craft paint – you can use any colors you would like. I used an off-white acrylic paint by Ceramcoat called Oyster White for the angel’s body, but you can use any color you choose. In addition, you might want a flesh color for the face of your angel craft. I chose to leave the angel’s face plain wood tone.
- Wood stain (optional) – you can use this if you want your angel craft to have a bit of a weathered look
- Sand paper (optional). – this is also for the purpose of achieving a weathered look.
- Pipe cleaners (optional) – if you are doing this angel craft with young children, you can use a gold pipe cleaner for the halo. You will need only a small piece (maybe an eighth?) of a pipe cleaner for the halo, so if you are doing the craft with a group of children, take that into account when you are gathering supplies.
- Burlap fabric – this is for the angel’s wings
- Fabric stiffener, Modge Podge, or craft glue – for the angel’s wings
- Cupcake liners (optional) – these can be used for wings instead of burlap if you are doing the angel craft with young children
- Twine – for the angel’s halo (if you aren’t using a pipe cleaner – I used twine on mine)
- Paint brush – a flat brush works well
- Hot glue gun and hot glue
Instructions for the Angel Craft
Once you have gathered your craft supplies, you can get started on your angel craft!
- First paint the angel’s body. An easy way to do this is by using a flat brush. Put a good amount of paint on the edge of the bristles of the brush. Touch the top of the neck with the brush and pull the paint downward on the body. This will help you make a nice clean edge around the neck.

- Optional – if you want to paint the angel’s face, you can do that step now.
- While the angel’s body is drying, you can prepare the wings. First, cut a semi circle shape from the burlap that is about the size of a cupcake liner folded in half.

- Now cut a curve into the flat edge of the semi circle, kind of like the shape of a smile.

- Fold the wings in half and cut a little wedge from the bottom to help shape the wings.

- When you are satisfied with the shape of the wings, use your fabric stiffener, Modge Podge, or glue. Use a paint brush to paint a little bit onto the burlap. Focus on the edges especially. This is to help prevent the burlap from unraveling and fraying.

- (Optional) If you are doing this angel craft with young children and you want to keep it simple, you can fold a cupcake liner in half and use that for wings instead of burlap.
- If the angel’s body is dry, and you would like to give it a weathered or rustic look, you can do that now. Start by lightly sanding around the body to rub off a bit of paint. When you are satisfied with how that looks, you can either leave the angel as is, or apply a small amount of wood stain or watered down brown paint. I used wood stain on mine. Wipe a small amount on, and then wipe it off.

- When your angel and her wings are dry, it is time to put all the pieces together! If you plan to hang your angel craft on a Christmas tree, you can cut a piece of twine about 5 inches in length to use as a hanger. Glue the twine to the back of the angel’s body.

- Now glue the wings over the twine.
- Make the angel’s halo. If you are using pipe cleaners, simply bend a piece of pipe cleaner into a little circle and glue it to the back of the head. If you are using twine (this is what I did), make a little circle out of twine. Glue the ends together to keep the circle together. Then glue the twine circle to the back of the head of the angel.

- Your angel is finished! You can add a face and hair if you would like, or leave it simple and sweet.

I hope you enjoyed making this angel craft! Thank you for visiting and please come again soon!
