Pop up Easter Bunny Craft for kids

If you are looking for cute bunny crafts for an upcoming Easter party or you just want an easy craft idea for a crafty morning this Easter season, I have a super fun craft for you! Kids of all ages will enjoy this simple Easter craft. Most of the steps are easy enough for young kids to do, and older kids will be able to complete this adorable paper craft on their own. Crafting is a fun way to enjoy some bonding time with your kids and a great way for younger kids to practice their fine motor skills, so I like to give my young children plenty of crafts to do! In this post I will give you the instructions for making this fun pop up Easter bunny craft for kids, and the free printable template so you can enjoy this easy craft idea too!

Craft Supplies for the Pop-Up Easter Bunny Craft for Kids

  • Easter Bunny Template and Easter Basket Craft Template (find the free printable templates below)
  • Paper – card stock is the ideal paper for this craft. You will need card stock for the bunny shape for sure, but you can get away with construction paper for the Easter baskets, Easter eggs, and other bunny parts.
  • Glue sticks – you can also use white glue or double sided tape for most of the steps.
  • Scissors
  • Black marker

Instructions for Making Your Easy Easter Bunny Crafts for Kids

  • Print out the bunny template and the basket template. You can either print them directly onto your desired color of card stock or print the templates onto regular paper and trace them onto other paper.
  • Cut out the Easter bunnies, their parts, the Easter eggs, and the two parts of the Easter baskets. This is great scissors skills practice for elementary kids. Younger kids may need a little help with this step. The smaller parts will be particularly tricky for little hands.

  • Glue the Easter basket back to the Easter basket front. Put a very thin line of glue on the right and left side of the basket, leaving the top and bottom open. Press the front and back of the basket together. Set it aside.

  • Now to make the little bunnies!
  • Glue the inner ears to the inside of the bunny’s ears. Glue the nose to the bunny’s face.

  • Now finish making a simple bunny face by adding two black dots for eyes with your black marker. You can also add whiskers and a smile if you would like.
  • Decorate the Easter eggs. I just cut the eggs out of pastel colors of card stock, but you can use colored pencils, crayons, markers, or paint in whatever different colors you would like. Feel free to decorate the Easter eggs with stripes, dots, or whatever patterns you want.
  • Now use your glue stick or double-sided tape to glue the eggs to the front of the bunny, as if the bunny is holding the eggs. Make sure that the eggs do not go past the edge of the body of the bunny.

  • Fold the bunny’s arms over to hold the eggs. Make sure the arms of the bunny do not extend past the body of the bunny once they are folded over.

  • Now turn the bunny over. Fold the long strip up to create a tab and reinforce the bunny. Glue the halves of the tab together and glue the strip to the bunny’s back.
  • Fold the tab up so you can use it to move the bunny.
  • Insert the bunny into the Easter basket with the tab fitting into the slot in the back of the basket. You should be able to slide the bunny up and down with the tab so he peeks out of the basket.
