This game is simple to put together and simple to play. Your child will be reading OU words in no time at all!
Materials Needed:
- Mouse in the House printable
- Laminator and laminating sheets (optional)
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Print and laminate (optional, for durability) the Mouse in the House printable.
- Cut out the OU houses, mice, and OUT board.
- Lay out the houses and one OUT board per player.
- Hide the mice under the houses. You will need three mice for every child who is playing the game.
- Teach your child the sound of OU. OU makes the sound found in the middle of the word house and mouse. Note: OW can also make this sound.
- Explain the game: There’s a mouse in the house! Your child needs to get all of the mice OUT, but first she has to find them. Read the word on a house and then look under it to see if there is a mouse in the house. Once your child finds three mice and puts them on the OUT board, she wins!
