If your child likes to race or play guessing games, he will love this activity!
You Will Need:
- the Bring the Thing With the ING Printout – located at the bottom of the post
- a sand timer or other timer (we just borrowed one from a game we have, but one of these would also work)
- a call bell (optional) – while this is optional, it makes the game so much more fun! And trust me, if you have a set of these you will find lots and lots of ways to use them

Instructions:
- Laminate the ING printout (optional – but I recommend it if you plan to do this activity multiple times) and cut the cards apart.
- Spread the word cards out on the floor on one side of the room. Spread the clue cards out on the other side of the room.
- Place the sand timer and call bell by the clue cards.
- Teach your child the sound of ING (ending sound in bring and thing – the i makes a long e sound)
- Explain to your child that on one side of the room there are ING words. On the other side of the room, there are clues that match with the ING words (for example, one of the clues is scorpion or bee, which matches with the word sting). Instruct him to turn over the sand timer, read a clue (or you can read the clue to him if needed), run and find the ING word that matches the clue, and run back to ding the call bell before the timer runs out. Have him do this until he’s read all the words, or for as long as he’s engaged and having fun.
I hope you enjoy this activity! Let me know how it went in the comments.
